We've got you covered with lifePLUS
Living a full life can be filled with joys—and with risks. And if the unexpected happens and you become sick or injured, our flexible lifePLUS insurance cover is there to shore up your today and secure your tomorrow.
lifePLUS includes—Income Protection, Death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) cover. When you join, you’re eligible for lifePLUS auto, our default cover that gives you Income Protection, Death and TPD cover. Note that if you’re:
- under 25 and/or your account balance is less than $6,000, you’ll need to opt-in within 60 days of joining PSSap to get lifePLUS auto insurance cover
- 25 or over and your account balance is $6,000 or more, you’ll be covered automatically.
In both cases, you can change your insurance if that suits you better. Our lifePLUS choice cover lets you take out any combination of Income Protection, Death and TPD, and Death cover.
You can also cancel your insurance at any time.
Income Protection insurance
Income Protection covers you when you’re injured or sick for a period of time. It protects your income, and may also give you access to rehabilitation programs and career support designed to help you get back to where you want to be.
Death and TPD insuranceDeath and TPD insurance covers you if you’re injured permanently and cannot return to work, or if you die. If you can’t work again, a lump sum is paid to help cover the cost of living, and the cost of any expenses or debts you might have had before. Similarly, a lump sum is paid or to your dependants if you die.
lifePLUS auto—our default cover
Applying for insurance is often tricky, but we've made it simple and straight forward. There are no application forms or medical tests. When you join PSSap, if you meet eligibility conditions, you’re automatically covered by lifePLUS auto.Find out more
With lifePLUS auto you get*:
- benefits paid for up to five years if you’re sick or seriously injured, after a 60-day waiting period,
- super guarantee contributions of 15.4 per cent paid directly to your PSSap account, and
- Death and TPD cover levels that vary based on your age.

lifePLUS choice—take your pick
Maybe you’d like more or less insurance, or the certainty of fixed costs. If so, then customise your cover with lifePLUS choice.
With LifePLUS Choice you can:
- Change the period over which income protection benefits are paid,
- Change the waiting period, and
- Fix your Death and TPD cover so that it stays the same every year until you turn 61.
If you're under 55, you can also transfer your cover from other super funds or insurers to CSC—subject to some conditions. Contact us for more information. We'd be happy to help.

What is the Code?
The Insurance in Superannuation Voluntary Code of Practice (the Code) is the super industry's commitment to performing to high standards when it comes to providing insurance to super fund Customers.
The main objective of the Code is to improve:
- the insurance products that super funds offer to their customers, and
- insurance processes—from taking out cover, through to lodging claims and offering rehab, to managing beneficiaries and benefit payments.
The Code came into effect on 1 July 2018—and you didn’t have to ask us twice to take it up. We believe that making values-based decisions in the insurance space leads to more affordable, effective insurance cover for our Customers.
