When ill health brings unexpected detours

Life doesn’t always go to plan. A sudden illness or injury can change everything—your career, your finances, and even your sense of security. In these moments, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. But for CSC members, your insurance through super can give you options and help you focus on what matters most—your recovery and wellbeing.

Discovering support through super

Rebecca, 41, was thriving in her career when a serious injury forced her to step back from work. At first, she worried about how her family would cope and how she would manage the financial and emotional toll of her situation. After reviewing her insurance and checking her cover in CSC Navigator, Rebecca realised she had Income Protection through her super. Not only did Rebecca receive financial support, but she could also access personalised wellbeing services through AIA Embrace. These programs and partnerships include rehabilitation support, return to work coaching and resilience counselling. That safety net gave her the breathing space to focus on healing, rather than stressing about finances.

More than financial support

As an eligible insured member, Rebecca also accessed reduced cost mental telehealth through My Psychologist. Speaking with a professional helped her navigate the emotional challenges of her journey, and knowing this support extended to her immediate family made a difficult time feel more manageable.

Finding a path forward

When she was well enough, Rebecca expanded her rehabilitation plan to include business coaching and has since returned to part-time work.

The real value of insurance through super

Rebecca’s experience shows the real value of insurance through super. It’s not just financial protection—it’s practical support, emotional care and the reassurance that you’re not facing life’s challenges alone.
