National Volunteer Week 2026
18–24 May 2026
11 May 2026
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest celebration of volunteering and a chance to say thank you to the millions of people who give their time, skills and care to support others.
Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week recognises the vital role volunteers play in building connected, inclusive and resilient communities. In 2026, the week aligns with the International Year of Volunteers, highlighting the global importance of volunteering and the impact it has across all walks of life.
Your year to volunteer
The 2026 theme, Your Year to Volunteer, encourages people to get involved in ways that work for them. Volunteering can look different at different life stages, and that is okay. There is no single way to volunteer—only the way that fits your interests, capacity and circumstances. Every contribution matters.
Volunteering can create connection, purpose and a sense of belonging. These non-financial benefits can enrich retirement or support wellbeing throughout life.
Celebrating CSC’s volunteering partnerships
CSC is proud to support volunteering through partnerships, including with the Australian National Maritime Museum. CSC sponsors the Museum’s Defence Force volunteer program, helping current and former ADF members share their experiences and preserve Australia’s maritime heritage. With more ADF volunteers needed, this partnership plays an important role in connecting service with community.
CSC also recognises and thanks members, employers and employees who volunteer and help create opportunities for others to give back.
