CSC boosts support for Cancer Council ACT
We are ramping up our support for Cancer Council ACT’s Relay For Life event.
04 Mar 2020
It’s Cancer Council ACT’s biggest fundraising event of the year and one that our employees have proudly supported for 15 years. This year we're honouring their commitment by matching every dollar they raise—a fantastic motivator to get involved and start fundraising.
CSC’s Relay For Life team coordinator David Zakharoff—a self-confessed relay junkie—says it’s way more than just a walk in the park.
“I’ve done it for seven years now,” he says. “The first year I didn’t know what to expect but within five minutes of being there I was hooked. I was swept up with everything it stands for and the dedication of the people involved. It’s a great atmosphere. You get to meet new people, hear amazing stories of courage, share laughs with colleagues, and raise funds for Cancer Council ACT.”
David has a personal connection to the event too. “Through having a family member who was affected by cancer and losing that family member in recent years, the event has become much more significant to me,” he says.
Cancer Council ACT’s CEO, Sandra Turner says Relay For Life is both a celebration and a commemoration. “It’s about celebrating people surviving from cancer, recognising their carers, and acknowledging those who have passed,” she says. “It’s a great event that people really should do at least once in their life.
“Our partnership with CSC is vital to our work and helps us in so many ways. It helps us to guarantee that we are going to have funds coming in on a regular basis, which allows us to plan further ahead.”
This year, we're aiming to raise a grand total of $25,000 through CSC. So, David and the CSC team need as many eager walkers and joggers as possible. The individual target is $200 per person and employees’ friends and family can join the team too.
